Eating Disorders Explained

How Much Do You Understand About Eating Disorders?

For many people, the concept of an eating disorder brings up an image of a frail, thin, young woman, but eating disorders are much more complicated than that and affect all walks of life. In fact, over 30 million people of all ages and genders suffer from an eating disorder in the United States.

No one can deny that as a society, we’re borderline obsessed with weight loss—it’s an industry worth over $70 billion, after all. This, coupled with everyday stresses, myths about food, and constant buzz about dieting all over the Internet, it’s no wonder that so many people get wrapped up in food-related disorders.

That’s why I’ve created Eating Disorders Explained, a Facebook class I’ll be launching on Monday, August 1st at 7:00 pm EDT to help people better understand and empathize with people who are suffering from one of the three most common types of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder.

Join me as we tackle the complexities of eating disorders and discuss what can cause them, how to recognize the signs, and how to develop an effective treatment plan.

Learn the Signs, Symptoms, and Effects of Eating Disorders

Having a disordered relationship with food is something that millions of people suffer from, but very few people openly discuss or fully understand. As a result, there is a lot of shame, embarrassment, and feelings of isolation associated with eating disorders.

The sad truth is that a majority of people living with eating disorders won’t seek treatment for their illness due to stigma, misunderstanding, and a lack of education. After Eating Disorders Explained, you’ll be better equipped to recognize and support those who are suffering from these illnesses.

My goal for Eating Disorders Explained is to show participants that recovery is possible and that eating disorders are more common than many people realize.

If you’re looking to gain information to help yourself or a loved one establish a healthier relationship with food, don’t miss out on this class.
